Registered Republican and Former Lobbyist Scott Mason Indicted on Charges of Possession and Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material
According to the documents filed in Federal Court, on October 22, 2025, a Grand Jury in Charlotte, North Carolina, indicted Scott Mason, 61, of the following:
one count of distribution of CSAM [Child Sexual Abuse Material], in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A (Count 1) and one count of possession and access with intent to view CSAM, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252A(a)(5)(B) Case 5:25-cr-00049-KDB-DCK Document 9 Filed 10/28/25 Page 1 of 16 2 (Count 2). Doc. No. 3. On October 27, 2025, Mason pleaded not guilty at an initial appearance and arraignment.
Trial is currently set for the trial period beginning on January 5, 2026.
Mason is a registered Republican in North Carolina and also a former lobbyist for President Trump. Based upon an article by Politico, he served as a congressional liaison for Trump’s first transition team and also worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign.
As many readers here are already aware, I’ve written about the GOP pedophile issue on my Substack and indicated that I would be tracking relevant stories that might surface in the future, hence the reason for digging into Mason’s indictment. In that article, I referenced a website called Republican Sexual Predators, which has over 1,475 cases of Republican rapists, child molesters, sexual harassers, and domestic abusers.
Regarding Mason’s case, Kik, a social media platform where Mason shared materials, sent a CyberTip Report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. In that report, a user named “1Ranger1872” uploaded three files that they suspected of containing CSAM. In addition, there was another account, 2Ranger1872. Both of these accounts were tied to ranger1818@yahoo.com, which was determined to be an email registered to Scott Mason. According to Politico’s piece, Mason “is accused of distributing the material — some of which was generated using artificial intelligence — ‘approximately 50 times’” between March 28, 2025, and May 1, 2025.
He also “acknowledged that he engaged in sexually explicit conversations about minor females, which he claimed to be a fantasy and an outlet. He further acknowledged that he received CSAM ‘to continue the fantasy,’ although he claimed he ‘never solicited’ the material, the filings continue.”
A “fantasy and an outlet?” Having sexually explicit conversations with girls is a “fantasy and an outlet?” That doesn’t sound right to me. It sounds downright dangerous to girls, too, if Mason encounters them.
Mason is yet another example of how the GOP has a pedophile issue, and I imagine, sadly, he won’t be the last person I write about here. There is a deep sickness within the GOP with pedophile, rape, domestic abuse, and sexual harassment. They demean women and girls on so many levels. They diminish their personhood, their ability to be independent, and their autonomy. Several intertwined threads have created this rampant rot in their ranks: their adoration for traditional, patriarchal structures, their corrupt form of Evangelicalism that they follow, one which places the father at the head of everything (children and wives must be obedient servants to the head of the household), the MAGA cult’s obsession with sex pest Donald J. Trump, and their turn toward fascism. Each of these factors is complex in its own right. When combined and contextualized historically, it becomes even more complicated to disentangle individuals from these structures of domination, manipulation, and control.
That doesn’t mean, however, that it’s impossible. Of course, I’m speaking of those trapped as victims. I’m not speaking of the perpetrators of these systems of abuse. That’s an entirely different set of problems, one which I’m still addressing myself when it comes to viable solutions for a society, let’s say, that has finally broken away from hyper-masculine, fascistic capitalist structures. The questions become: what happens to the perpetrators in a new, more egalitarian system? What’s the recourse? Those are difficult questions to answer, especially when considering pedophiles, who are regarded as incurable.
Right now, none of these questions can be answered, as we’re drowning in collective trauma from the abusers who either deny or deflect from what’s going on. Then there are the abettors, who protect the abusers, in our current society. Finally, some see it for what it is. They call it out. They are often ignored, reprimanded, or silenced. Speaking the truth, especially for the victims, is fraught with deep challenges. One only has to look at Virginia Giuffre (1983 - 2025). Giuffre fought valiantly for justice on behalf of other victims of sexual abuse her entire adult life, only to die by suicide in the end. But she did not die in vain. The fight continues. Part of that fight is shining a light on these GOP criminals’ indictments and eventual sentencing.
Light disinfects. It casts the shadows of shame asunder. It heals.
So, the work here continues, and the disinfecting goes on.

Keep shining the light. Your work is important!
