Trump, the Insurrectionist
On September 25, 2025, President Trump signed the National Security Presidential Memorandum, referred to as the NSPM-7, against so-called domestic terrorism. As a result of this memo, anyone in the U.S. tied to “antifascism” is now suspected of being an enemy of the state. The language is so loosely defined in this memo that, apparently, if one happens to criticize the U.S., capitalism, or Christianity, then one is also part of the “Antifa” group. Furthermore, if one believes in human rights on migration, issues around race, as well as gender (which broadly speaking, is related to women’s rights and gay and transgender rights), one is also now an extremist. In short, any “hostility towards those who hold traditional fascist American views on family, religion, and morality” marks you as an extremist and part of the so-called “Antifa terrorist” organization. (I wrote at length about the NSPM-7 here, and if you’re still not familiar with it, I highly recommend reading up about it now.)
Suppose one turns this memo, however, on its head; it reveals something else: Trump as the insurrectionist par excellence, something he’s been since the Capitol of the United States was stormed on January 6, 2021, after he lost the election and refused to accept that reality. (So, as we know, he had a mob of his cultists attack the Capitol of this country, and injure and kill police officers in the process. I know all too well, as I was at ground zero on that day.)
Right now, several cities—Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Portland, Chicago, and soon Memphis—are under attack by ICE and federal agents at the orders of the Trump regime. (The National Guard from Texas has arrived outside of Chicago and could be on the streets this week.) Trump has essentially weaponized the government to do the dirty work of his seditious work. As Liz Dye wrote in “Trump is the Insurrection,” “In a deranged rant at the generals on October 1, he called on the military to take on domestic ‘enemies.’ He even suggested that ‘we should use some of these dangerous cities as training grounds for our military.’” And here we are. One wonders when their city is next.
At a bizarre “Antifa Roundtable” discussion on October 8, 2025, with an overwhelming number of right-leaning “press” and the rest of the actual media, President Trump, along with White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Secretary of State Kristi Noem discussed further plans on how they will go after “antifa,” i.e., “domestic enemies,” among other things.
Again, the insurrectionist Trump, along with his co-conspirators, was in full view at this talk. Riddled with lies, obfuscation, misinformation, threats, and sheer projection, Trump and his sycophantic entourage launched into “Antifa.”
President Trump began his mumbling rant:
It should be clear to all Americans that we have a very serious left-wing terror threat in our country. Radicals associated with the domestic terror group Antifa, that you’ve heard a lot about lately, and I’ve heared a lot about them for ten years. And other far left extremists have been carrying out a campaign of violence against ICE agents and other officials charged with enforcing federal law.
President Trump is lying and inventing an apparition to justify stripping Americans of their right to freedom of assembly and freedom of speech. Just yesterday, the president said out loud that he “took freedom of speech away” on flag burning in the U.S. (One still has the right to burn an American flag, regardless of what President Trump has claimed or what executive order he has signed otherwise.) He’s also claiming that protesters are being violent, when that is not true. Instead, they are being attacked by ICE agents.
In addition, the rise of actual right-wing terror groups has been documented extensively over the past few decades. Under the last Trump regime, it worsened (far-right leaders celebrated the first election of Trump, just as they did when he won again). These facts, of course, run contrary to the president’s false claims and outright lies.
President Trump continued to argue that in Portland, “Antifa thugs have repeatedly attacked our officers . . . to try and violently stop the execution of federal law.” As a result, President Trump has tried to call up the National Guard to invade the state, just as he is now doing in Illinois. Again, this claim is false, and Mayor Keith Wilson and Governor Tina Kotek have both made it clear that the National Guard is not needed in Oregon. In a lengthy interview with PBS, Governor Tina Kotek explained in no uncertain terms, while discussing her call with President Trump, the following:
I don’t understand why we think it’s neccessary to have military intervention in the city of Portland. We are a beautiful, vibrant, safe city. Portland is doing well. And I believe he at the time had, and continues to have, misinformation and a very old, outdated viewpoint about what is happening in Portland. The protests happenig outside the ICE facility are about a one-block radius of the city of Portland.
Governor Kotek emphasized that local law enforcement was present and managing the situation, reiterating that military intervention was entirely unnecessary. She also added that ICE agents were the ones escalating the situation, and from what the mayor and she were seeing on the ground, they were also antagonizing protesters there. Governor Kotek stated that due to this antagonism, they were trying to “de-escalate” the situation, thanks to ICE agents being the ones out of control.
But on the point of lawfulness, the insurrectionist in the White House is guilty as charged. Governor Kotek returned to the two rulings of the judge who determined that and said:
The federal government has not made a compelling case, based on the evidence on the ground that there is an actual problem, as it relates to being an insurrection, rebellion, or whatever they think this is . . . [their understanding of things] has no basis of fact that military intervention is necessary. The first ruling was about the Oregon National Guard being taken out of my command.
The court ruled in favor of Oregon and reinstated the Oregon National Guard under the governor’s command. A day later, the Trump regime tried to call up the California National Guard to Oregon and the Texas National Guard to Oregon. However, Kotek noted, “The judge ruled again and said, ‘Look, I’m being clear here. This is not lawful under Title 10. This is not a lawful deployment.”
Kotek focused on this fact about law, adding:
We are a country based on rule of law . . . we, as Americans, believe in the Constitution and the rule of law, and that is what should prevail here. This isn’t about Oregon or Illinois anymore. This is about every state in our country. And what President Trump is trying do is an abuse of power and it is a threat to our democracy.
So, the insurrectionist continues to try to terrorize cities within his own borders unlawfully. The regime has created the specter of antifa as the enemy and made it an excuse to disrupt, antagonize, and, again, terrorize the lives of countless people in these cities. Then there are the immigrants who are being abducted, kidnapped, and disappeared. (Agents have also shot and killed people.)
October 18 will be an interesting day, especially given the things that the regime is currently saying about so-called antifa and “domestic terrorism.” At one point, during the “Antifa” roundtable, Trump claimed antifa is filled with “paid” actors and agitators. If that’s the case, and millions show up, as No Kings anticipates they will, just as they did on July 14, then that’s a lot of paid actors. I know I’m not paid, and neither is anyone else who shows up. I show up, like you, because I’m proud that Trump hates me—it reveals what sort of character I do have.

I got banned a year ago for criticizing him on his app. I wear that as a badge of honor.
Good article, as usual.
