Is It Election Day or Doomsday?
Depends on Who You Ask
Back in the day, when I wrote about student loan debt 5 to 10 times a day, I wrote about political things constantly. Naturally, the student loan debt crisis was, and is, part of the political problems here. They play a huge role in politics.
As many of my former readers have noticed on this substack, I haven’t written a whole lot about politics. There’s been a smattering of comments or posts here and there about politics. Of course, I don’t think it’s difficult to grasp where I fall politically, although I get queasy at the thought of anyone labeling me as a liberal (there isn’t room for why in this post, but I’m happy to answer why below in the comments).
Anyway, we have less than a week until Election Day, and, boy, oh boy, are things ramping up already! And not in a good way. Ballot boxes are being burned. MAGA people are punching poll workers. It’s like Jerry Springer’s show has come to the polls, except none of it’s remotely funny or entertaining. Not that any of us are surprised. As to be expected, Trump and his sycophantic shitbags are pulling what they did in the previous election against Biden, but only it’s far worse with cringey fascistic Musk stumping for the orange turd, calls for even more violence by Trump and team, dementia at warp speed with the mandarin Oompa-loompah, and a Black woman being the opposing candidate. Y’all, I’m exhausted. We’re all exhausted. (Check on your Black and Brown friends by the way — make sure they are holding up alright. We’re in for a very, very, very long ride these next coming months).
I honestly don’t doubt that Kamala Harris will win, but whether or not she becomes our next President . . . well, that remains to be seen. Like the rest of us, I’m emotionally charged up. The country feels like a tinderbox ready to be lit aflame by Trump cultists who have been champing at the bit to burn the whole thing down just to protect a felon.
Hold on tight, we’re in for a ride.

I hate to be a pedant. Oh, who [sic] am I kidding, I don’t hate it. I thinks it’s “champing” at the bit. But I agree with you!
