I absolutely do not get this proposal.

"It’s unlikely that the Republicans would agree to such a resolution, which means the Democrats have the upper hand."

A "when they go low, we go high" kind of upper hand?

No, not in the least. The Republicans, and I have information on this, know they don't have the upper hand. It bears no relation to that saying.

Think about this suggestion. Really examine it before you endorse and lobby for it. It’s sounding like the same ol’ same ol’ to me and that is not a winning game.

No, it's not. We need to END the government shutdown. Do you want 42 million people to starve? Do you want close to a million people to go without pay? This is called being strategic.

You're also barking up the wrong tree, Sussty. I'm a degrowth Marxist. I don't believe in this system, but it's what we currently have.

And if you don't think it's a "winning game," why don't you tell us what your suggestions are? How do we solve this insurmountably bad situation?

Not by folding at this point, declaring victory, establishing the legislative equivalent of yet another Sternly Worded Email / Letter, and effectively cleaning up the mess caused by magats. They want to preach to us about consequences ? Fine. Face them. Someone needs to knuckle under and if it’s the Democrats again I don’t see how that helps anyone but the magats. I enjoy your Substack and appreciate your perspectives when when there is disagreement; we are all in this together.

I don’t see it as capitulation at all.

Glad you like my work. I appreciate that.

This whole ordeal has been a softball toss to the Dems who still don't own a bat. If the whole nation isn't disappointed in the corporate Democratic Party, they havent been paying attention.

These are well thought out actions. Thanks. I will reiterate these to my representatives in Maine

Eliza - thanks for taking it up with your senators in Maine. By the way, I used to live in Maine (I miss it.) I lived in Bangor and in Ellsworth!
